I used to do that also on my '01 Z71 gasser. More fun to drive it in that mode.

I use T/H alot when empty to help save my brakes, but when towing, Its normaly always on, mind you BC does have the rocky mountians and is very hilly

No not on open road for sure .My toy box weighs the same, I only turn on in town for brakeing issuses .Otherwise it seems to stay out of overdrive and eats more than I like! Maybe I should read the manuel too

How it was explaned to me when I had my E4OD rebuilt over the summer.

Flat land is OK for OD.

When you hit the hills take the OD off. Unless it is gear hunting the turn it off.

Also, to make note of the engine braking, I was told to turn off the OD before you top the hill, shifting out of OD while going down hill with a good load, can be very hard on the transmittion. And when it cost me $3,500 to build it. I want to be gental.
