I have been looking to put air bags on my '97 f-350 DRW 4x2 and found a nice used set from a '95 F-250 4x4 SRW and want to know if they will work? Also, i have a 5er hitch but i dont see how that affects in since its mounted to the frame in front and behind the axle. any advice is much appreciated.

Yes it will work, air bags for towing are usually not designed different Kause of drive train, more of a universal fit kinda thing, but the 4x4 does have 3" wide springs vs your 2.5" iirc, but still should fit, I put 2wd air bags on a 4x4 with no issues before 95 f150-97 f350

I got the air bags yesterday, the have 2 slots on the leaf mount for 2.5" and 3" leafs, seems like they are universal.
