Advise on the different rear ends

I am looking into purchasing a 2006 dually. I am torn between one with a 373 gear and one with a 410 gear. I will be towing a 32 foot 5th wheel max weigtht 15,000 pounds. 2000 pounds hitch weight in the bed. I live in the south east and was wondering if there is anyone out there that pulls with the 373. If so is there much difference in the hills.

You will be better of with the 410's. You will sacrafice some fuel economy, but the 373's tend to lack a little when towing over 10k....take offs especially. Towing in the hills will also be benifited with the 410's because you will be a little higher in the RPM range at any given speed which will help keep your momentum. If it was a lighter trailer, i would definately say go 373, but at 15k, my opinoin would be the 410

Pulling that kinda weight up those hills you should definetly go with the 4.10s, I've pulled some heavy loads across the eastern area with both gearsets in 6.0 auto's and the 4.10s not only pull better but they make a big difference in tranny temps and therefore longevity. I would recommend 4.10s for anyone pulling more then 7-8000 regularly. Your mileage will be 2 or 3 mpg less but the truck will thank you! By the way, I was pulling with the stock tires and not the 35's I've got now.

Changing gears in a 4x4 is very expensive because you cant just change the rear without changing the front. the only way you can have the front and rear diff gear ratio safely different is to remove the front driveline.......

Here is a good site I found that has all the gears. I had the best luck with this site. If you want to go lower in number than a 3.73 then you will have a problme locating a front gear. All I could find are 3.54 since the front is a reverse cut. For the rear a 3.55. Now gears from 3.73 and up are easy to find as matching sets.

First off I'd give Discount Power Parts a call, they seem to be able to get anything you could need! If they cant help I've dealt with Randy's Ring&Pinionin the past with good results (1-866-607-2094).Another good place to look is Drivetrain Warehouse(888-432-7656). This project with installation is probably going to run you around $1500, have you considered adding an overdrive unit? They cost twice as much but you can take them with you when you sell the truck. I tow quite a bit during the winter and I'm seriously considering adding one, its like running a double overdrive when your empty.
