Rent? Borrow? Bid box trailer

Hi,

A friend of mine is retiring and moving to a house in Washington State. She is moving from the Bay Area CA, Good for her I say it is totally crazy nowdays here. She asked me to help her move (UGH), but she is a close friend. She was going to rent a large box truck, but now it is not available. I suggested a Uhaul or something, Uhaul only goes up to 6' by 12' enclosed trailer. So does anyone know about something larger we could tow behind my truck? Her storage is 10' by 20' stacked 9' high.

Thank you

Good luck renting a trailer. I have a late 99 extended cab sb 4x4 diesel and when I tryed to rent a car hauler to haul a buick roadmaster they said my truck wasnt big enough. Then when I needed to haul a 2003 chevy reg. cab silverado 4x2 v6 plain truck they again told me they couldnt rent me a trailer because I didnt have a big enough truck. I asked the lady if she was F***ing crazy. She said no sir but your truck can not haul a car hauler with that truck on it. They told me to find somone with a suburban to haul the trailer and they would rent it to me. Sorry for the rant but im still pi**ed at uhaul. If you do try to rent a trailer to pull behind your truck tell them your hauling cotton balls.

I had a less than productive episode at Uhaul also. I may just buy a 32 foot enclosed car carrier and then look into renting it out on Craigslist when I am not using it. I have seen a 26 foot three axle (moving sale 1993) for $3500. Perhaps I will also offer towing service to make use of the F250 and car hauler.

Footnote: Uhaul want $.79 per mile (ouch)

yah, Uhaul sucks -- thats for sure! --- good luck with the move -- but that trailer buying and renting idea may not be a bad one

Wife was going to look into options on other companies, she is slammed with overtime. Good idea tho. I was looking at other options (horse trailer, power washed), I have till Nov 1st to pull this together. It looks like United Rental and Uhaul are the only games within 50 miles, I must be missing others tho.

i know they have those things called PODS ( portable on demand storage) i think they are pretty spendy though. they have lots of different sizes so maybe that is an option. they drop off the Pod to your house, you load it, they store it and or move it to where you want to go then you unload it and they come get it. just another idea..

My friend is just exiting a lengthy custody battle with the ex. Court costs, court mandated counseling, an attorney for the 11 year old, her attorney, etc, etc. I really want to help her without much of a self inflicted financial wound in the process. (She won).
