GVW or Gross Vehicle Weight, means vehicle plus load. You see trucks that say '80,000 GVW' it means that truck cannot legally weigh more than 80,000 pounds with a load. There are other factors that come into play as well. Depending on how wide your tires are any axle cannot weigh more than a certain amount. The truck could be under its GVW but have a single axle overloaded if the weight isn't properly distributed.

Need More weight!!

I am curious how much weight my truck CAN'T pull. Good info here. I regularly tow a 48 foot gooseneck triple axle with two cars and lots of tools and there is one thing I have found, If your towing anything big or heavy the idiots come out in full force to make you hit your brakes after they cut you off. I have towed heavy equipment for a friend many times as well and never a problem, except for the idiot who cuts you off. Ya don't belive me?? Put some weight on your truck and hit the open road, keep your gun at home so you won't get charged with murder. I have never chipped, dipped or modified my baby wonder how she would act with some enhancement???

If I wanted to kill the United States economy I would not fly planes into the world trade towers, I would raise diesel prices to a insane level!! Hang on there independents hope you don't go the way of the farmers. God bless the boys dying for our freedom...

P.S. wish they would send some of us old rednecks over there with all the whiskey and ammo we could use, we would get medieval on their asses!!

I saw a guy last summer rip his receiver hitch off the back of his truck. What a mess, front of the trailer and receiver ended under the meatball. I belive my receiver is rated for 10K. What's yours rated for? The bolts that bolt the receiver to my frame were only grade 5. Changed mine to grade 8 after what iI saw. He was towing Bobcat with other acc. on the trailer. (Thankfully no one got hurt)
