towing with a 7.3??

Hello, I have a 2002 7.3 4 door long bed with 75K on it. I have been pullin my 32’ 5th wheel toy hauler with no problems at all. I hit the scales the other day with an empty truck (1/4 tank fuel) and an empty 5th wheel. Front axle was 4740lbs rear axle was 5360lbs and the trailer axles were 8720lbs. So im sittin at 18820lbs empty with my current set up. Loaded I can prob add 2K to that and the truck performs great, accelerates, cruises and stops with ease.
I am currently looking at a new 5th wheel toy hauler and it specs out at 13400lbs dry and max loaded at 18K. I do have air bags and a digital brake controller. Any thoughts on pulling the trigger on this new hauler? Can I tow this thing with my truck? I cannot buy a new truck at this time. Thx!!!

Your truck will pull it. Just make sure to watch your EGT's and trans temp.

Just watch the Temps 7.3 in my opinion is one of the best engines out there especially when it comes to towing.

Im also considering swapping in some 4.30s to help tow the extra weight. Do ya think this would be a waist of time and money? It just shows that going from 3.73s to 4.30s the GCWR goes from 20K to 26K.

I pulled 29k 1600 miles over a few passes and the worst I saw was 180 after getting cut off, loosing momentum and getting stuck in 1st with the converter unlocked for a mile.
