Can anybody help me out with weight laws?
I live in Idaho, and i've been getting into hay hauling quite a bit lately. I've always pulled, I've got 26K plates etc. I don't have a cdl because i've always just driven ag related loads. Some of my more recent loads on my truck have grossed out upwards of 35K... crossing state lines
![]() Do you guys know of a way that a private truck, used for private hauling, can be placarded to haul more? I've seen commercial trucks that are placarded up to 36k, can you do that with a private hauler. Or do i have to go up to a semi and just tag in not for hire?

Private. That is my question, is there a way to make it legal? I understand hauling overweight is illegal. I have called the DOT, and have been told that i cannot haul more than the GVWR that is on the trucks door, which is like 8000, which is bull because I can legally haul 26K. The guys here usually have a history of some sort with this stuff and can provide some helpful advice.

2. Most states won't allow more than 26,000 gross combined weight on a 250. 3. More than likely, you're either going to have to keep the weight to 26,000 gross or get at least an F-350 or bigger. I was close to 30,000 a few times with my F-350 and it wasn't fun, that' why I use the Pete now instead, much safer. |
