Trailer brake problem

I have 2005 F350 DRW with ford trailer brake controls. Sometimes when towing trailer the I get check trailer on dash. When this happens I still have lights but no brakes on trailer. It is very random. Last time it happen I pulled over messed with all connections and still would not come back. Started driving down the road and in about 2 miles they started working and I did not have issue again on that trip. About 200 mile trip. Any ideas?

Check for a loose wire or connection in the harness on the trailer.

I love the trailer check system from Ford.
