Borrowing my truck

My dad and mom are going to Sturgis for the motorcycle rally next week with two other couples and pulling a 29ft toy hauler. Funny thing is, my Dads friend just bought a ram 1500 for this trip to pull the trailer. He bought the 4.7L piece o chit V8 and come to find it doesnt pull it so well! Well, being the good guy I am I am letting them take the PSD on the trip, my Dads the only guy Id ever let take my truck, and especially put 3k on it. Anyways, Im interested to see how it goes and how the truck does with power, mpg, etc. On the other hand, I have my moms 04 passat tdi, told my Dad I was gonna get a programmer for it while theyre gone, said if I can find one for decent price and worth it, go for it! So Im gonna check out a different market of diesel power adders. Anyone got any experience in this?

Mod a VW???? I wont even replace a battery on a VW after witnessing the bizarre engineering included on them! A friend replaced her battery, then had to have it towed to VW service to have the "fuel thing reprogrammed" Be careful !

I know that stock mid to late '90's German spec, Passat Wagon TDIs will do 140mph, easy. Might take a while to get to that speed but it'll do it all day long. I'm sure there's something out there.
Just make sure you save some money for your truck!

Well guess they're not using my truck now for the trip, My Dad's buddy just got an 06 cummins mega cab. He picked up the toy hauler and I guess hes getting 10mpg at 70mph, seems low to me, I was thinking my truck could do about 13? The trailer is only 7500 empty, about 10500 loaded.
