CHECKLIST

I am going to pull a 29 ft bumper hitch camper from north Missouri to Colorado Springs ( around 11 hrs ) for my first long haul trip. What are some things I should check before I go, or watch for while I am traveling? All my trips so far have been within a hours drive, so this trip has me a little nervous!:drive: Any info from someone that does this very often would be extremely helpful. THANKS!!!

Nevermind, I went on a short one hour trip this weekend and only got 8 mpg. On a 11 hr trip a hotel will be just about the same price and less of a hassle.

if that trailer doesn't weigh 15k+ there is no reason you should've gotten 8mpg... me and my dad can get 12-13 in the '02 EX 7.3 pulling a 10k snowmobile trailer, and my truck can get around 11-13 pulling about 12k lb ditch witch trailer

the 7.3 for some reason gets better mileage than the 6.0 when pulling for some reason. and on the bad mileage pulling a camper, that is a bit different than pulling a ditch wich traler, lot more wind drag with a camper

true but that's why i mentioned the snowmobile trailer too, and the 7.3 gets better milage then the 6.0 everywhere... too much emmissions stuff and high-end power on the 6.0 while the 7.3 is a low-power kinda machine

So is 8 mpg within normal range? I am hoping a new air filter will bring it a little closer to 10 mpg.

seeing how i can get about 12 with a snowmobile trailer (i believe 35 ft?? about 10k lbs) and about that with the older 7.3 (obviously) towing 12k lbs then i think you might wanna stay below 85 next trip lol
