Tow Ratings
I'm in the process of buying a used powerstroke and I have 2 that I'm looking at seriously. The main purpose for me buying the truck is to tow a gooseneck enclosed car trailer. There are 2 that I'm looking at, a 1995 F250 2wd with a manual transmission and a 1999 F350 4wd SRW with an automatic trans. Both trucks are regular cab long boxes. I know the F350 has a higher tow capacity than the F250, but the F250 is better condition and a bit nicer inside. I've been trying to find out what the tow rating is for each of these trucks. Online I've seen ratings from 5000 - 14000 on the F250 and only 1 rating for the F350 of 14500. Does anyone know a link that posts acurate numbers, or can someone tell me what the owners manual says the tow ratings are? Also are there different tow ratings for 5th/gooseneck trailers vs tag trailers?
