Stollen hitches!

This morning as soon as the guy I sit next to at work gets in starts on a rant on what happened to him yesterday. Him and his wife had to go to Chicago for a funeral. So they took here Trailblazer instead of his 3/4 chev. When he got back last night and went to hook up his truck to there travel trailer. He abrupbly noticed when he backed up to the trailer that his hitch was gone.

The complete equalizer bar hitch setup gone! They didn't take the trailer or touch anything else on the truck. But they took there time and grabbed everything even removed the torsion bas off the trailer. So he had a cop come out to file a report, not much they can do. But the officer told him he wasn't the only one. I guess there has been a recent string of hitches being stolen in the Shakopee, MN area. Most have had locks on but they hacksawed through them. I've heard of the cats being stolen but this is a new one for me.

What the heck would you do with all the hitches? Where the heck would you get rid of them? Scrap yards can't be accepting a load of new or next to new hitches. With out razing some concern I'd think. If its drugies trying to make a buck I just don't get it.

I'll bet they are, when I worked for a John Deere dealer, when had some warranty pieces from a V-ripper stolen, these guys had a 1/2 ton Chevy truck and were going around stealing anything that they could get for scrap. Problem was, their truck broke down and a Sherriff's deputy just happened to come upon them. They thought they got off easy till I told the SD that those were warranty parts, not scrap, their charges went from a simple misdamenor to Grand Theft.
