Fifth wheel vs. gooseneck

I am in the market for a fifth wheel camper, but I also want to pull a 14K gooseneck equipment trailer. Do any of you guys have any experience being setup for both?

Knowing how each hitch works, I would assume that it's not possible to equip a truck with both hitches. Do you use some sort of adaptor hitch on the fifth wheel rails in order to pull a goose?

I haven't done much research yet, so please forgive my ignorance. I know with all the members and guests that go through this place I will find someone who does both.

Thanks in advance for any input you may have!

i have some rails in my bed and it will accept either style hitch, you just have to swap out the plate that is held in with four pins.

Thanks guys! I actually got off my butt and went to the Reese website before I got any replies. That was too easy. Now that I saw it on their site, I know I have seen that goose to rail adaptor somewhere before.

Does anybody have any experience with one?

Go with what jngreen uses, I have used it before the only thing is carrying the extra plate is a pain if doing deliveries, Mostly you only have one kind of bed mounting system.. Snowman

B&W Custom Truck Beds, Inc.

That is another good hitch. it is the hitch I have in mine. When you don't need it there are no rails on the bed, plus they have a 5th wheel that uses the gooseneck setup.

The B&W is the only way to go. It's a little pricey but well worth it. If you look on the site that Mr. John Wayne posted and look at the RV companion hitch and then look at the Reese style you can see the difference. My dad has the B&W and loves it. Easy to install as well. My Uncle had the Reese style got in a wreck and it collapesed. Not good when your fifth wheel lands on the side of your truck bed.

The B&W does look like the bomb! Of course for over $1,000 total cost it should be. I hate to spend that kind of dough, but if I get rid of this truck the only thing that I would be out is the $330 gooseneck hitch. The $700companion fifth wheel will always be transferable.
