Another thing is you have a shortbed... if you get a 5th wheel alot of people recommend a sliding hitch. Dunno if you can get a sliding 5th wheel with a gooseneck.

I'd do it

The dealer my dad bought his fifth wheel from sold him the gooseneck hitch and fifth wheel companion at cost. I think he paid around $800 for the both of them. So if you're buying a new camper make them cut you a deal on it.

Get The B&W, Then convert the king pin on the trailer to a bulldog gooseneck hitch.

No shortbed here! I specifically wanted the longbed because I intended to do a lot of towing with this truck. The shorter 156" wheelbase is nice for parking and maneuvering, but the 172" is where it's at for hauling and towing.

Just go get some fifth wheel rails for your bed about $100, bolt 'em down, get a fifth wheel hitch for the camper and spend about another $175 for THE GOOSE, and it will go in the same place as your 5th wheel hitch with only 4 pins holding either one of them in place.

I put a colibert on mine and love it. You get a clean bed and more room for gear and in my case I can leave my tool box in and tow the camper.

Colibert

I just bought a 5th wheel trailer and am going to do the gooseneck conversion. I don't even like a fixed g'neck ball in the bed, rails would drive me crazy. They could split a sack of protein too easy.
