Toybox Hauler

I have a '06 F250 it is a HD model (leveled) and has the 6.0L PSD M GVCW is 19,200 I believe unless someone has drugged me and I am suffering from dislexia. My question is I am looking at a Keystone Raptor 37ft Triple Slide. The combined weight unloaded and total capacity is around 15,000lbsd some small change. I am just looking for what recomendations for towing this monster. I am sure I need a slider but I am in Alaska and they charge an arm and a leg for everything. What would be a sensible price for a slider and what else do I need to do to my truck besides trans temp guages/ trans cooler. I am thinking I need airbags but I do not know where to start even looking Please

You need to start by purchasing a set of air bags for the rear of the truck. It will help carry the load and you will have better control when you are towing your trailer.

I am assuming you are looking at a 5'er?

Air bags are a must in my opinion with any trailer like that.

I agree

Air bags are a must when you have a 5'er. Go with the Ride-Rite, which are designed for 5k lbs per bag. They'll help quite a bit both to level out the ride and dampen some of the bumps. Next, do you need a slider? Maybe not. Despite having a short bed, if your Raptor has an extended pin box (factory add on, usually), then you shouldn't need one. If you have a standard pin box, which is quite likely, then you should look into a manual slider to save some cash or look into the SuperGlide. Oh, and I'd double check that the combined gross of truck and trailer don't exceed your 19.2k lbs. If so, you could end up with insurance problems if something happens.

Thanks for the tips I think I will end up with a manual slider, just to be safe. I should be alright for the weight. The trailer has a ready to run weight of 10,000 ish and I am only going to be using another 1100 lbs of bike or snowmobile with gear. The weight I quoted on my first post was the max weight (running vehicle weight and full carryin capacity). I am guessing the actual towing weight should be around 17 and some change.

If I recall correctly the F-250 PSD CCs have a GVW of 10,000 lbs and a max combined of 23,000 lbs (might be 23,500 I can't remember for sure)....

I pull a 30ft 5er with a dry weight of 10,550 and a max weight of 13,880... If I pulled it at max weight I would be over the gross combined.... The pin weight is 1880 dry and I try to keep my weight distribution as even as possible... That said even if my pin weight is 2000 lbs it only sags the back end about an inch and a half or two inches....

I use a Huskey 16k manual slider hitch and even when it's locked forward I can't turn sharp enough going forward to have the trailer get anywhere near the cab... Now I'm betting the toy hauler you are looking at is a 100 inch wide which will make a difference in that department (mine is 96 wide)....

You DO want to keep that gross combined weight in mind because with those big toy hauler's you can exceed it with ease....

Ken....

Woah! I must be loading the chit out of mine pulling my trailer then. I get about 2-3 inches WITH the airbags at capacity. I've never felt anything strange and it pulls better than any trailer I have owned. Maybe I need to go and weigh each wheel independently??

Without airbags inflated>>

And with them inflated>>
