Towing the big boat with SCT tune

Ok, so everyone was extremely helpful with my last post about towing the boat expected to be about 14k lbs, but now I have another question:

I have the SCT tuner on my 6.0l, with the tow, street, and xtreme street tunes. I don't have an exhaust or an EGT guage (and yes, I know I'm dumb, but I'm getting there soon-lots of other expenses).
Should I take the tuner off completely to tow this boat, or should I put it on the tow mode? I didnt know with such a large load if I should or not. On the same note, with the SCT in tow mode, should I also push the Tow/Haul button on the gearshift?

Thanks for the help!

Yeah if I was you with that much weight behind your rig I would go to stock for towing. The 6.0 run hot as it is without any load. You really need to get some gauges if your going to be towing that much weight with the tunes

Figured that would be the best bet. I refuse to run the tuner with the Xtreme just for that purpose, so towing such a heavy load seemed to be a no-brainer. No sense in risking ruining the motor. Thanks for the help

Yes, Tow/haul is preferred when pulling, it works a little better with large loads.

What does a tow/haul model in a tuner do to the computer? more boost, more fuel etc? What does it do DIFFERNT from a street/power or race tune?

two things i got for ya,
First, get rid of ur 6.0 and get a 7.3,
Second get a superchips tuner and run it on tow safe,
I transport boats all the time, trust me on that i pull big a$$ boats all around the US up and down 6% - 12% grade hills,
thats it.
The 6.0 is the worst truck ford ever made, known fact, i don't care what other will say.
P.S - you better off pull it with a dual tires truck not single tire, you will be fish tailing all over the place. :handguns: :handguns:
