PSD_VA is correct, my sticker on my stock hitch says 12.5K with weight-distributed hitch. I do know that the gooseneck, because I have been researching them for a long time (about 2 years) are rated for 16K+ on my 06 F250.

The hitch could be rated for 50k, it doesn't mean the truck is rated to tow that much. You better research your owners manual or Ford. I have been trying to find it on the internet, but haven't found it. The most I have seen posted is 20,000lb GCVWR. which is truck and trailer weight.
Someone on here surely knows the numbers.

Another important rule in towing, isn't what you can pull as much as what you can stop. I have seen guys with 26,000lbs behind these trucks. But it isn't safe.

This info should be on a sticker on your door.

I am not one that is "by the book" but you are just asking for trouble doing something like that. What if it busted off and killed a car full of kids?
call it what ever you want the point it i've done it a few times 19500 was the most normally it would be around 10000 and i'll do it again. but to be safe i put a DMI bumper on my truck and there rated to pull 20000. and its capable of hauling twice that.

Guys,

Take a look here: Trailer Life.com Annual Tow Guides. My '02 is rated at 12,500 conventional (weight distribution hitch) / 12,800 5th wheel. DRW is rated 12,400 for both. Interesting.

Well, let me be honest with you. You know its under rated. If you get into an accident and someone gets killed and its discovered that you knew it was under-rated...chances are you would be charged with criminal manslaughter.

The civil case would be next in line to deal with .....

just go buy one of the pintle hitches, and get the one that has the ball attachment with the clamp also. not sure what they are rated for but its WAY more than our trucks should be pulling. anyone can put a trailer on the back with 50k and move it but like stated above it stopping thats important to me. the more drop = the more chance for somthing to go wrong. spend the extra money and have peice of mind

here i found one link
Pintle Hooks and Combination Hitches
