That is correct - BUT - Some of your picture hosting sites have a separate link designed just for posting to forums and even though you can see it on your screen, doesn't necessarily mean that address will work as a hot link on that site. The hosting site that Farmboy uses is an example of that, as is one I've used in the past to post ROTM pictures. Another thing is - if you post a picture and lets say it's hosted on someones home web server - they may not like the traffic generated by "views" from another web site and either move the picture - or here's the best one - CHANGE the picture and keep the same name.......I know a guy who got PO'd because someone linked a picture off his site to sell a product on Ebay. He saw the traffic generated and just changed the picture on his server. Hard to sell something when you advertise a computer for sale but the picture is of Richard Simmons in a speedo.

What do you do if right click is disabled? I can still get the picture ![]() As for the richardsimmons stuff, I always host my own pictures so that very thing CAN'T happen! Also, on some forums they don't already have the html markup to use [img] and sometimes places like myspace you need to write out <img src="HERE"> in order to post the picture. If you want to link the picture, make it clickable, change size when posted, and have alt. text you can do that too! Only takes a lil html. |
