7.3 smog help in Sacramento
I finally got the smog notice from DMV last December. Not sure why they waited so long to call me in, but whatever. Anyway, my modified intake failed it, so I wanted to know if someone in Sacramento with a 7.3 would be so kind as to lend me their factory air cleaner for a day while I have it retested. I'll bring you a 6 pack of your preferred malted beverage for your troubles and return your air box to you, unharmed, that same day. Anyone?

I left CA two years ago but when I was looking into the smog stuff, all intakes were exempt for diesels. Not sure if something changed but it sounds like you got a shop that doesn't know the rules.
As a matter of fact, here you go. Says air cleaners don't require a CARB EO. |

They also failed me because I dont have a cat, though another shop told me that my 02 did not come with one, so yes, they were indeed idiots. The air temp and vacuum sensor are disconnected though, which is harder to argue with them about.

Thank you for the link, BTW. Ill take it into them if I cant find a factory box, though I suspect I'd have a more productive conversation with a pile of horse ****.

I believe the manual transmission 7.3s don't use cats....
If I had a 7.3 I would help you out but sorry, I got the 6oh Post up in the chat in the wcs section. You might get more responses there |

The sticker on the bottom side of the hood will say catalyst or non-catalyst on it, had to point that out to a smog shop on a couple occasions.
They were wierd with the 7.3's haven't really found a rhyme or reason as to which ones cats were put on. |
