Sct X3 question

Can any of the Cali folks help me out?

I have an Sct X3 with Matt's SRL, 8K, and Unlimited tow. Just the basics. Being new to diesels and the X3 I have a couple questions.

1st When I load one of the custom tunes will the X3 automatically save my stock tune? Is there anything I need to do before I load a tune?

2nd I don't have an aftermarket exhaust.....yet! The mods I do have on the truck are nothing special. You can see in my signature. Truck only has 64k miles on it and runs real strong. So my question is, should I wait to install the exhaust before I run any tunes?

Thanks for any help guys.

When you download your tune, the SCT will automatically remove the stock program and store it. You can run the tunes with your current exhaust but keep careful watch on EGT readings. If you don't have gauges, then don't waste your time loading it. You need to know what your parameters are before pouring more fuel to it and heating it up.

I do have gauges. Tranny, EGT and boost. What do I need to look for and stay away from?

Thank you for the reply.

Just don't wanna let your EGT's get to high while playing with the new tunes and trust me it will. Just keep them 1200-1250 or less and you're good.

Thanks for the reply again. I have one more question. Will doing the exhaust help with lowering egt's?
