Thanks for the Information! my truck has 105000 miles on it now and i am sure will be needing some DPF work before long, i would much rather remove than replace.

Are you moving into the actual city limits of Tacoma or the outskirts of town

Will be living on Ft lewis probably.

Ft lewis requires emission testing. I haven't seen what the Pierce county emissions rules are for diesel as I live in Kitsap county a few miles to the north of where you are going. Shouldn't be too hard to find online what their requirements are. Best bet is to find a buddy with similar mods to what you want and see who smogs his truck.
Another option is to keep it registered somewhere there isn't emissions requirements as most counties in Washington do not require testing. Good thing as my truck is fully deleted... Welcome to the PNW, there are a ton of us up here with the compression ignition bug! |

Have had any problems with emission in Washington? I will be there this summer and was worried if my 2003, 6.0L, cat deleted, and egr plugged will pass emissions. Since we have to get a post decal so emissions will have to be done. Did they pressure you to get another decal if it was from another post?

This came from WA DOL website fyi!
Requirements for military personnel If you drive on a military base, within an emission inspection area, 60 days or more a year, federal law requires your vehicle to be tested regardless of where it's registered. Any questions should be referred to your military base. Exempt vehicles The following diesel vehicles are exempt: •Older than 2007, 6000 lbs or less. •2007 and newer, no weight limit. WA State Licensing: Emissions testing |

Just went today to get mine tested. I surprisingly passed even with my current power problem. You plug a thing into your cigarette lighter, they hook a tube to your exhaust and conduct a snap test. All a snap test is you floor it three times, testing each one to see how much smoke comes out. I have/had orginal exhaust, so I can't tell you about cat delete or anything. But the guy at vehicle regs told me not to worry about an emissions test with an older truck like that. But, if you are coming from another post and you can keep your vehicle registered in another state, then do it. My friends are from SC and they cannot keep their tags there, so they are forced to get Wa tags, which means in order to do that, you are required to get emissions, unless you are an exempt vehicle. (as stated above) We are from benning area and we are keeping ours registered in Ga. Only reason I did my truck was I bought it up here and tags are due in March, I wanted to get that taken care of before I deleted the exhaust to test it. By the way, she scanned my door barcode and it did not give her the option of 7.3, only 4.9 and 5.8. That could have been too why I passed. Sorry I can't give more info.
