I guess I missed the part that said he was a known gang affiliate. The job of the police is not to exact punishment. I will agree and concede this point. That is what the court system is for. I'm not saying he shouldn't be held accountable for his actions but they are not the judge and jury. The officer needs to be held accountable too What is acceptable punishment for the officer?. Maybe anger managment classes and a fine of some sort. If you are speeding or run a red light, that doesn't make it OK for a cop to kick you in the head because you potentially put somebody else's life in danger? Of course not, but what this individual did goes beyond merely running a red light. I agree and I'm not saying it should go unpunished. And saying that his actions warrant the death penalty is absurd. I believe violent / dangerous career criminals should be executed. I have said that many times on this site and stand by my beliefs. How many times has something like this played out and a police officer or innocent motorist / bystander gets killed by a repeat offender? I believe that the lives and safety of the law abiding citizens are of higher value than some low life dirt bad repeat offender.. It didn't say he was a repeat offender. If he is then that too should be considered when he has his day in court. I personally am apposed to the death penalty so I have to disagree with you. But I do agree with the three-strike rule. And it's ashamed that these guys go to prison and we have to support them because they can't act civil with the rest of society. That's why I think they should make prisoners work for everything they get in prison including food. If they don't work for it let them starve themselves to death. Then their blood is on their own hands. We have to work for ours, let them work for theirs.

Hey Craig,
I've been preaching for years if the government would re institute public hangings and only ONE appeal, the crime rate would plummet!

Jesse you say that you are opposed to the death penalty and I respect your beliefs. I just happen to oppose supporting career criminals with free housing, dental, health and legal services, just tso that they can be released and harm society again and again until caught. I favor using the death penalty for a wide range of violent crimes.

Right there with you
I would be more than happy to support a tax which generated funds for DNA testing and any other method that would help confirm the guilt of an individual and ensure the innocent went free.

Craig

To the OP.............my apologies for the hi-jack.

Craig, I don't think we disagree on a lot but for what we do we can agree to disagree. No hard feelings

I was driving home tonight on HWY 69 north out of McAlester. The speed limit was 65 which I was doing when this car flew by me like I was standing still. About 1/4 mile behind him was a city police car with his lights on that passed me but it didn't seem like he was going as fast. There was very little traffic, one other car ahead of me and a semi ahead of them about 1/2 mile, on a divided four-lane highway. The last place to turn around is at the city limits. When the cop didn't catch him by that point, he turned his lights off, turned around, and went back to town. I was kinda upset that the guy got away with his extremely excessive speed because the cop didn't want to have to drive three or four miles to the next exit to turn around. If it had been me, I would still be in jail.

No, what probably happened is some freaking chump liberal(s) who don't believe in the death penalty or disturbing the houston toads natural habitat complained about how , when and where the local Police where doing their jobs.

Now his hands are tied because the chicken **** city council or Chief of Police has made it a departmental policy that they cannot pursue outside of town even though the US supreme court says they can pursue throughout the entire US.

So next time someone "complains" about being harrassed or treated so ungodly fair by the Police just because they didn't like getting caught. Remember,, that guy speeding through town,,, that the Officer couldn't chase because he has a family to feed too,,,, probably did something more than just steal some gum from the corner store.

But hey atelast he'll live to commit crimes another day..........just hopefully whoever he comes in contact with is as lucky..........but I know better.

I sure am glad that I work for a department that allows me to pursue the freakin idiots until the wheels fall off, engine blows or i run out of gas cause I'll do it every time. Im off the box now.
