Thinking about going into business for myself...
Hey all, i live a little bit north of ashland right now. Anyway, i've been working at international for 4 years now, and been playing with diesels since high school. I'm tossing around the idea of working for myself, with an effort to keep it exclusively to powerstrokes/ford diesels.
Just a semi serious thought i am tossing around, right now i'm keeping my eyes open for a shop and such. I do some work for a few people at their places or at mine. I'm really wanting to get a little more serious about it if the workflow can sustain itself. Let know if you all have any thoughts on the matter, i've been doing my homework on it for a few months now. Thanks! |

Be careful man, I tried doing this on my own as well last fall up here in Northern Va trying to open a Diesel Performance shop entrusted the wrong person, he was a diesel tech at Ford and lost his job come to find out. Well needless to say I had everything planned, work coming in supported vendors, prices on everything and like 4 head stud jobs waiting. The guy couldnt even fix my truck, he actually messed up mine even more and im stuck where Im at. I did a some hands on work but mainly handle orders and performance parts for 6.0 stuff. I wasnt gonna ruin my rep and other ppls truck cause of him so I stepped away from it and said screw it. So just be careful learn from my mistake.

Roger that, its a love/hate idea for me right now, i'm trying to approach it as cautious as possible, in the business of fixing anything, reputation is 110%
I do work for a handful of people that know me and trust me, stepping out into the big world is something else entirely. Thanks for the info though |
