Temporary VA Stay

How bad will I get hassled by the smokeys in VA with an out of state modified truck? I will be in Quantico, VA for only 6 months, but my truck will be tagged in FL. Right now I have 5% tint all around except the windshield and will be doing a stack soon. My home state is MD (so i'm familiar with how tough VA cops are), but i'm in the military and move a lot, so I plan to keep my truck registered in FL because they are so lenient. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Dont worry about it, i'm on Quantico and have out of state tags. I've got a leveled F350 with stacks and she's pretty smokey if i'm screwing around. I also have dark dark windows. I've never had any issues about my truck.

Just dont speed b/c they'll hammer you for that, and keep it reasonable.

Yeah, with out of state tags you're fine, but just be cool with the speed, and it'll be fine. Used to be a state inspector so that's always one of the outs.

Good, things are looking up! I plan on keeping a property in FL no matter where I live as long as the laws stay as lenient as they currently are compared to other states. I grew up in MD, and as much as I love the state, their liberal vehicle laws are so ridiculous.

And you were just telling me yesterday that the one thing not to do up there is speed!! Hope it wasn't too bad for ya...maybe you can take it to court and get it cut down to cheaper/less points?

nah I just took the points on my base record. Its a base only thing, doesnt get reported to anybody so i'm fine. Just have to stay out of trouble for the rest of the year!

They always catch me when I'm just cruising minding my own business...i'd been off the throttle for along time and was just coasting down hill...completely clear road, clear weather and all.

PMO...I somehow skipped over that minor detail earlier. You're right, just don't get too many points at any single base within a year. I almost got points carried from one base to another from Pensecola back in the day. I was a PFC and they said I ran the gate...long story, but I wound up just getting an azz chewing by the base judge...
