hmm, i just found this: .dmv.virginia.gov/vehicles/emissions.html
Emissions Inspections
Requirements
Your vehicle must meet Virginia's emissions inspection requirements if it is garaged in one of the localities listed below:
•Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, or Stafford
•Cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas or Manassas Park
BUT it also shows this about exemptions:
◦Diesel powered vehicles NOTE: Diesel powered vehicles are not exempt from the emissions testing program requirements when they have: ◾A model year newer than 1996, and
◾A Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) less than 8,501 lbs., (if GVWR is not available, empty and gross weights will be used) and
◾A registration that expires in July 2007 or later.
Does that mean since the F250s have a GVWR of 10K they dont have to be emissions tested?
Sorry about all the questions. My silly wife half heartily talks about moving to that area because of the horse. I dont really want to go, but I have good job oppertunities up there.
MY 2006 is exempt from and emissions inspection, however there is still and visual inspection of the exhaust as part of the safety inspection, which I'm not clear on the specifics.
I see many trucks up here in NOVA however that are getting by with stacks and other straight pipe sounding systems. I've yet to get a close look to see if the are CAT-less
