Imagine if he got into a car accident.

And he's breaking more laws than just stealing the fuel, but transporting it is illegal isn't it?

Smart way to acquire the fuel, but dumb the rest of the way.

My uncle used to do that with his conversion van when I was a kid, he just had a 55 gallon drum though. Anything over 1000 gallons you need hazmat, and tanker endorsements on a CDL.

Yes it is extremely illegal to be transporting that much fuel without the proper endorsements, He had to have a helluva pump to get that much fuel at a decent rate. It is in Richmond, Texas. A suburb around Houston!

Yeah I was gonna say, these guys are not the first to do this. The originator of this scam was a retired old man. He built a special trailer and everything and even would fake like he was fixing a tire or something while filling up his tank. This scam went on for a LONG time before anyone caught him. I read about him about a year ago on a news website. To my knowledge he was the first, but who knows.

Man that is awesome.....but I have question, how do you not notice someone stealing 1000 gallons of diesel???? Even if it was in a enclosed trailer.....I would think that would take quite a bit of time right?

Really depends on the pump. I drive a pumper/fire engine and it puts out 1250 gallons a minute. But I doubt he has anything close to that. Even if it was 50 gallons a minute he could do it in 20 minutes. That's probably the reason for going into the store so long.
