: hahahah j/k!! I dunno. Looks like they both took off the same and the d-max has a better powerband.Isn't the d-max running a 6 speed auto now? wonder if that makes it accell quicker with a load?? |

Its that 3rd gear I tell yeah.....it had the D-max off the line and through 2nd but you can see it, once it hits 3rd it falls on its face and the D-max pulls away

The video leaves a lot to be desired, but you have to admit it looks close. With a few more rated ponies the Dmax should have the advantage if everything else is equal. I haven't driven a 6.4 yet, but from what I've seen they are lucky to have any more than a 6.0 even stock. It will be interesting in the next 6 months as the tuners get deep into these new 07 emissions engines and figure out how to max them out reliably. I want to see if Cummins still has as much potential as the venerable 5.9 did/does.
The best part of that video are the comments below it! As I was reading the now closed thread for the last time, I thought to myself that anywhere else that thing would have been shutdown! Lo and behold I came upon the Logan post. It needed to happen, that thread smelled like butt!

THAT WAS A GOOD RACE..
A TITAN OR TUNDRA WOULD HAVE LOADED UP WITH 20,000 AND WALKED AWAY FROM THE DIESELS... NOT... |

I saw that the d-max ran a 22-ish...but you couldn't see the Ford's time. DUnno why...but I didn't have any sound...and it looked like neither one boosted up on the launch. POOR, POOR video.

"Ford F-350 DRW PSD 3.73 versus Chevy 3500 DRW Duramax 3.73 at Milan Dragway during the 2007 PickupTruck.com Heavy Duty Shootout. They are both towing 10500# trailers.
F-350 ran the 1/4-mile in 22.98 seconds at 60.56-mph. Silverado 3500 the 1/4-mile in 22.56 seconds at 61.81-mph." that's the video description. so the Chebby won by 0.42 seconds and had 1.25mph more speed. Not a HUGE gap, but I agree with the 3rd gear comment. These trucks hit 3rd and freakin FALL OUT! I hate it in my rig- I get off the line KILLIN it and then 3rd gear I feel like it all drops out... I wonder why. |

That's even true in my 6spd. 1 and 2 are good...once I hit 3 and 4...it's like I'm pulling a parachute.
