horesplay leads to sickbay

Yep...I too have had my days of fun with this crap....must say that it was very exciting. Remember though, all things that really fun usually cause trips to the emergency room. Good luck and stay safe out there.

Re: Sickbay

I've seen my share of the emergency room. Thought this would be a good place to jump in on the oxy-acetlyne note. I would not get that stuff anywhere near a potato gun!!! WAY-WAY-WAY too violent! I could go into great detail on this but please trust me on this one. You hit the right mixture of oxy-acet and you'll be seeing gun shrapnel flying and not the potato. Nitrous too with the right mix but not like acetlyne.

I'm up for that!! Witht the gun I have now I can send a potato 300yds, we measured. And I can send a golf ball completely out of sight, we are guessing around a mile based on where we were shooting it at. My next plans are to build on out of Rigid metallic conduit so I can experiement with some of the chemicals mentioned above. Speaking of that, where can you get the oxy-act stuff at? And what do you have to mix with nitrous to make it work?

you can get oxy/act at any welding supply shop. i would stick with the hair spray. if you dont your just askin for an e.r. bill. probably a big one too. oh, and the conduit would make some real shrapnel. again

wow.....how did i miss this thread.......i used to have two calibers.....inch and a half and two inch......the smaller had a four inch chamber and the larger a five......i used to use nothing but ether in them, but i had them both wrapped the full length about five times with duct tape to prevent any shrapnal in case of a chamber expolsion.......with a rangefinder the inch and a half one would send a potato 450+ yards if your seal was really tight.......Marc

Way back when I was in High School. The metal shop teacher wanted to show everyone how explosive Oxy/Acetylene was, he filled a ballon up about the size of a softball with a mix about equile to a good cutting flame and made a fuse out of paper. He put the "bomb" in one of the welding booths and lit the fuse. Everyone was on the other side of the shop maybe 75 feet away. When that thing went off, it shook the whole dang school and it knocked all the dust out of the rafters. The fireball was at least 10 foot in dia. No one was more shocked than the teacher. He said "I think I used to much". Everyone was black from all the dust and couldn't hear for a least an hour or more. What a lesson.
