Saw that video yesterday. Guy was a dumba$$ for even trying so therefor he got what he deserved.
I do feel bad for the truck though. |

i dont see anything besides him sliding. everyone else so why is it his fault?

He slides backwards into a bunch of cars just like everyone else had. The entire street was littered with vehicles who had tried themselves, yet he pulled a typical "I drive a 4wd truck" move and tried and failed himself.
The entire 8min video is on youtube. They don't show the part of all those other cars being piled up on both sides and him trying it himself. |

If you've already lost traction hitting the gas is only going to make it worse. He should have never stopped, or maybe after seeing 200 other cars fail take another route...

ya, why did he stop. if he would have kept it miving he would have had a chance but stopping on a hill that everyone is sliding down doesnt seem the brightest idea.

I dont think he purposely stopped, he just knew he was loosing traction and thought if he stopped rather than spun his tires, he would just stop and sit there...clearly he was wrong.

A dolt none the less, 4wd helps, but it doesn't make you super man

If he had studs or chains or maybe even certain snow tires, he woulda been fine, but he had mud tires which have no sipes in them whatsoever, so its like rubber bricks on the ice.
Theres a reason they make snow tires. The rubber is softer and performs better below freezing. They tread is designed to clean better and they have a ton of sipes cut into em to grab the snow/ice for traction. |
