Crazy Train Derailment
Still got diesels in it, but the video is of two BNSF trains hitting each other, right before the collision you can see the crew of the other locomotive jump out the right side. Hope everyone is OK. This is pretty crazy...

I'm not sure what was supposed to be happening here, the switch is aligned for the in-cab train to go over to the right, and thus.. not hit - however, if you look at the signals the in-cab train passes right before the collision, both colors are red so? Edit: Actually, the lower signal was green then turned red, I guess as if the other train rolled over a switch or something in the track as it wasn't supposed to keep going, and thus made the light to change? |

From another forum; This was a safety video we had to watch and their were not fatalities but if you look at the video at 23 seconds you can see the conductor bail off the side. The investigation is trying to blame the crews for running a red board but it was proven it was faulty signal for the crew coming at the video they both had signals when the head on should have been stopped while the intrain camera should have been going into the siding. The trains were traveling at 28 and 31 mph and both were carrying over 7k tons of train apiece. Just imagine two 10 million pound weights hitting each other at those speeds. Not a pretty sight. |
