Short bed + 5th wheel w/o slide hitch = bad idea
Here is a video of why you need a sliding hitch if you have a short bed and want to tow a fifth wheel.

He wouldve been fine without the slide hitch but his camper didnt have the extended kingpin box
Like you are supposed to have if you are going to haul 5th wheels with a shortbox truck
