I wonder if you could do it with diesel, might have to run some propane in the stacks to actualy fire it.

I have seen it done on diesel power machine using propane injection and an ignitor... makes for an intersting fire show.

Kind of figured it would need some kind of helper to ignite.

Most flame throwers use a system which cancels ignition, fills the exhaust with unburnt gas/air mixture and then ignites it using a seperate spark plug mounted in the exhaust. I've got a double system on one of my bikes. Chucks flames out about eight feet! It wouldn't work with diesel, but even with a seperate injection system added , most stacks are so large that the final exhaust velocity is too slow to eject the flame any distance. What a shame, eh?
