84 F-250 4x4
1984 f250 4X4, extended cab 6.9L
I'm at work right now so I'm just posting what I can remember off the top of my head. I'll post some pics later. I used this truck to haul my trailer load of toys (4 to 8K) back and forth to Tenn. & Fl. It saw some use around the house but not much. As long as I keep it around 60 MPH it consistently gets 19 to 20 MPG. (I do drive like a grandpa) My wife recently finished school, started working and I got a new truck so this one is no longer needed. I have such confidence in this truck I would have no problem get'n in this thing and driving to Alaska and back. It's rock solid!I never did any performance mods to it, I just drove it and it got the job done. Has always been super reliable! The good; 6.9L only has 74K on the clock. It was rebuilt by Warren engines with a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty. New crank was used and all specs are available on the build sheet. Cruise, A/C, CD AM/FM... Glow plug system was converted to manual and works flawlessly. Warn premium locking hubs. Front end rebuilt with all new bearings including NEW spindles, needle bearing, seals...etc. Tank switching block replaced and works flawlessly. In tank fuel level sensors replaced and work perfect. No engine leaks, doesn't use any oil. New clutch installed with new engine and shift / pulls great. 4 wheel hi & low function perfectly. Indestructible homemade rear bumper. Heavy duty hitch, started as class IV but is much heavy after mods. New tires have about 5K on them. Two half inch plates welded across the frame with a gooseneck ball in the bed. Rubber matt in the bed. The bad It's starting to get the occasional starter grind which means it won't be long until it needs a starter. It has some cancer in the rear, lower corners of the bed. It's missing one of the front hub caps. (Stolen while at a dirt bike park.) ![]() Spare is flat. Has some pitting rust in the bed but it is still solid. Power steering pump is leaking... The ugly The interior is red, but the seats are blue... it was that way when I got it.It's an 84 work truck...it don't look bad but it's not real pretty. I'm asking 2500 (I paid 4K for the motor.) I live near Calloway Gardens and would be willing to travel a reasonable amount of distance. I'll post some pic's as soon as it quits raining. Last edited by cntryby : 08-23-2008 at 08:37 AM. |
