Question Wtb 250

Hey fellas,

I am a new guy around here. I am looking at buying my first diesel, as well as my first Ford. I am looking for a crew cab, 4x4, 2002+, leather preferred but not required. I am looking to spend no more than 17,000, so something with miles is fine as long as it is in good shape. If this is not doable, please tell me. If you think I have a shot, what do I need to look for? What engine would be best for mileage? I do not do a lot of towing, but I do pull an occasional trailer at the ranch. Again, I do not know a lot about diesels, so any help is greatly appreciated. I have already been reading quite a bit on the forum, and I have found a lot of useful info. I am glad I found this place.

Thanks guys!

Howdy and Finding one in that price range should not be hard.

Check out this link. What to look for when buying a USED 99-03 PSD

Hopefully that will shed some light on the subject for you.

Thanks guys...what would you say are the "weak spots" if any of the 6.0 vs. the 7.3. In other words, what problems are most prevalent in each of the engines???

Thanks!

7.3 are bad about cam sensors. Early 6.0s seem to be bad about head gaskets, and egr systems. I'm no expert so don't take my word to heart. That is just mostly what I have seen.

For reliability the 7.3 would be a good buy.

I doubt you'll find anything with a 6.0 for the money you are looking for.

Here the thing the 99.5 to early 2003 the truck never changed so why not look for a 2000 or 01 that you maybe able to get for 14-15K, and will have a couple of thousand left for some guages, exhaust and tuner.

Just my 2cents
