U joint went. Cracked trans

My u joint rusted and I didn't have a clue it was going bad. There was no vibration at all .so we pull into a citgo to take a leak and come back outside there's a huge puddle of trans fluid under the truck. Well turns out the driveshaft began vibrating and cracked the top of the trans about four inches from the transfer case. So now I'm sitting at a motel on my iPhone waiting for a word from the trans shop on if I'm going to need a new trans,if they can weld it back together or what. Unfortunately were on are way to daytona for the race. Any clue on what a trans would cost, is this a big problem for the 02 fords. Thanks for listening.

Should be able to tig weld the crack up on the tailshaft of the trans. I have done this numerous times when I was in the Marines.

If it has to be replaced it'll be around $3500 installed for a reman at a ford dealer. At least this is what they quoted me. I hope you don't need to go that route.
