Any Tranny Ideas ?

Ok so "the Big Girl" is at the Dealership right now! The tranny made a SLAMMMMM yesterday, and then disengaged while in gear (mostly disengaged) I locked it into Lo-Lo and held her to about 3K RPM's and got away from traffic, and she moved about 8mph. In 2HI when I put it in drive it acted like it wanted to move, but then slipped. 38K miles, tranny serviced at 30K miles like it should have been. The fluid wasn't black, or smelly.

I wanted to figure out if there was a kit or some sort of augmentation I could have my dealer do that would make the tranny a little more stout incase this happened again.

I have had something similar happen from early on in the trucks life. I would be at a stop, or taking off, and it would seem to go into neutral but be in D still. Then I would hit the accelerator, and the tranny seemed to be slipping. Sometimes I just put the truck in N and waited a minute or two and it was be ok, and take off like normal, but the last couple times, I have had to stop the truck, and wait a little longer, and it would be ok..... This last time she ate it!

Ideas suggestions, comments ?

Could be a number of things........if the tranny fuild isn't burnt or smelly then I'm guess your clutches are not burning up, I wonder if your not getting enough pressure through the valvebody?

Maybe a bad shift solenoid? Maybe you pulled too many things out that you shouldn't have

It's very possible that there may be a TSB or two out there that they need to check for and perform. As far as making it stronger at the dealer more than likely not. It really depends on your relationship with the dealer. You can ask if they will reprogram the trans if available; but normally they will put back stock settings. Have they diag'ed it yet? Most important ? is it covered under warranty? Also ask the ser mgr how he feels about aftermarket parts and if he would install or not. He may or may not. Let us know.

The Tranny section was my best guess. I thought the Engine 911 was not relevant since it was the tranny, and since this is MY truck and I NEEDED some info REAL quick before the dealership tears it apart I deemed it a 911....

Yes it is under warranty ... 07 and higher have a 60K on tranny....
