Let us know if you find out anything. I installed a superchips programmer and I cant even hold my foot in it for the third gear shift. I have messed with hot rods all my life and also have had shift kits that were hard shifting. My truck is beyond hard shifting it will slam break your neck! lol

Problems?

I have a 2000 F350 7.3 Now I have a 253K on my truck. I am also going in for a overhaul on tranny. My mech. builds high hp/tq trannys for our type of rigs. More for towing than 1/4 Mile. I have been told from alot of tranny shops that 4R100 is a excellent tranny but comes from the factory unprepared for what we abuse it for. For instance I was throwing away TC's like like warn out undies. The valves are very week and crack sending fluid into areas of the tranny that don't need it causing irratic shifting. Week Pumps. and weak clutch pads.
Now on the other hand a 4R100 is a very good and reliable tranny when rebuilt right with a respectible tranny shop that knows what they are doing. I had all my work done less that 2500. To the minimum amount of work that needs to be done to you trannys are Obviously complete break down and inspection but the key componenets are, Upgraded pump, valve bodies and valves repaced and reprogramed, KEVLAR pads a must, upgraded billet steel 6 pin plantaries (a must for tow), A billet TC, and a great mech. to make it all come together correctly. Also they can adjust the shift in how you like it.
Now the way the 4R100 is suposed to shift after being built is fast or quick shifts (longer the shift the more heat generated by friction causing excess pad wear). But the 4R100 adjust to the weight of your foot. The harder you get on it the harder the shift also goes for towing the more weight you have the harder it shifts. It senses this and adjust the line pressure.
Do not knock the 4R100 very reliable a tough tranny when built right! My tranny now towing my boat or a trailer both <10K I can really tell a difference. It feels like you have more power.
