2001 F250/7.3 Tranny woes

So just got back from draggin my holiday trailer thru the rockies, everything is going great until I get back to town. At the first set of lights I stop at, I accelerate to about 40Kmh and then it feels like the tranny is labouring, check the fkuid and it smells burnt and is a weak color, so I nursed it home. next day same thing, when its cold it gets to 35-40kmh and then feels like the whole truck is braking. So to start what are the odds my torque converter has packed it and my tranny is fine? Never got any indication from the OD (never flashed) so i am thinking its got to be the converter. Any ideas?

Unfortunatley i do not have a temp gauge but that is coming Sooooon!
