tranny problems HELP

here is what is happening im hoping some of yall with more information and knowledge on this subject can help me.

1. the transmission will not go into reverse.( this started last night it went into reverse a couple times today but will no longer do it)

2. going down the highway at 55 mph im usually at about 1800-1900. but now doing the same thing im running in the 3000s almost to the point of red lining

3. when you give the truck fuel it jumps from like 1200 to 2500 to 3000

i need yalls help with any information that might be out there..... my guess is im probably going to have to replace or rebuild the transmission ( i hope not but thats what im thinking unless yall might know of another fix)

if i do have to replace the transmission about what price range am i looking at?

oh btw the truck just tripped 170000 and i think its still on the first transmission

thank in advance for any helpful suggestions and ideas

You need a tranny rebuild. They are going to run from $2000 - $4000 plus. some guys on here say to go with John Wood or Brians truck shop, from what I here they are both very good to go with. We have a small shop around here that is always busy and they do one psd a week, hopefully you guys can find a good shop with decent prices around you. Guys in St. Louis need to go to Trannies to Go in Arnold, they build them stout and cheap. If you have the 7.3 should be 4r100, 6.0has something else can't think of it but not the e40d in either.
