4r100 shtters in OD when cold
Hi, I have a 2000 e350 cube van with a 7.3L diesel I just bought to hall my kids dirt bike around with.
It has a 2 year old factory reman that has 51,000 on it (just out of warr.) When its cold, it will shutter when shifting into 4th. I have to leave OD off for about 20 min. and it goes away???? Its hard to tell but TC seems to lock OK in third but shifting into 4th, their is slippage from conv. or tranny. until very warm. I serviced the tran. and it didn't help any. I have seen the OD light flash before but have no way to pull codes and dealer wants $150 to do this. Engine has a #8 inj miss until warm too. Not sure it its related but also goes away. I'm a mechanic by trade but I guess not a very good one - ha ha. ![]() Any Ideas what I could try to diagnose/fix it?? Thanks Jeff |

I'd be lookin at the OD relay. i had a volvo that would pop out of OD all the time until warm. I would just smack the OD relay adn it would pop in again. over and over until the vehicle/relay was warm. replaced relay and problem was gone.
now that being said I am not sure of the electrical circuit on your trans and i am only assuming there is a relay being manipulated by the switch. its entireley possible that a trans computer could be controling this and their is no relay..? |
