yes - I see the new one has these two one way tongs, fish hook bard style, and a c-clip holding it in. I will fight with it for a little bit. Thanks for the reply. By the way, this has been a hard fix for me as the trans+xfer case slipped off the jack and crushed thy head into the cement. I had a level 2 concusion for two days. My advice is to chain it to the jack next time and dont listen to your buddy call you a pansy and not to worry out it...his head wasn't under it! This is also the reason that I really dont want to have to re-pull the trans.......if you get my feelings on this......

Hey just wanted to let anybody know that is reading this thread about the fix:

New generation Clutchees, one of the largest distributors of Valero Clutches in the US packaged some of the clutch kits for 99-03 SD's wrong. The finger hieght on the installed clutch is 1" higher than stock, so when installed the clutch will NOT work, as it wont throw far enough to release. Argh!!! I just finished the R+R again and measured the new hieght in relation to the origanal and found this as the problem. Apparently, according to the manufacturer, this plate goes to a Kodiak Topkick from GM, but it bolts right up to the 7.3 flywheel....
