never had any trans issues till today. driving and o/d off light starts blinking. pull over and look under truck and main seal is pouring fluid everywere. so i limp home and notice the torque convertor wasnt locking up. and after thinking about it i dont think it was before the light started blinking either. i hope my trans isnt junk. it still is shifting normal just leaks fluid as fast as i can get it in. any suggestions

what type of trans is in it and do you have the stock convertor and what type of power mods do you have

it is a stock converor. i have a superchips on tow safe all the time. it has always worked fine but today it was not locking up. then light came on and all hell broke loose. the whole way home about 15 miles it always shifted fine just no lock up

the torque converters on these trucks dont like to last long with alot of towing due to the transmission pressure runs a bit low at times causing the torque convertor to eat isteslf in the end

The main issue here is if the torque converter did go bad it is likely what every metal came out of it is also most likely now circulating in your trans

well that would be a bummer. i just put the truck up for sale 3 days before this happened. this sucks. im taking the truck in this week i will post up what the issue ends up being

Is there like a whirring sound, or any type of new sound coming from the transmission?
This is what my converter sounded like when it blew all to hell taking out the trans. I was rolling through town one night being pretty easy actually, just heading to the field to pick corn for a couple hours. Hit about 40 and BANG, then that sound started up and that was all she wrote. It had been locking up later and later before it finally blew apart on me. |
