I was driving on the freeway and notie the trans slipping a little when I stopped at a red light and when the light turned green there was no power to the wheels. I had a friend tow me to his house where we did a little digging and we desided that the transmission needs to be replaced, but I have been wondering if there is any way that the TC could be the only problem. We opened up the transmission pan and it was filled with metalic dust that looked like brake dust and the trans fluid smelled burnt. I had to leave the engine running while I was being towed in order to have to brakes and power steering. Any help wold be great I can not afford to replace the transmission and I owe to much on it to sell it as is.

Sorry to say, but 90 percent of the time (100 percent on high mileage vehicles) when the torque converter goes in an otherwise healthy transmission, It wipes it out. All that metal/clutch material circulates through everything. Good luck with it!

I agree, hate to say it but you are most likely looking at a complete rebuild. I had the same thing a year ago. Good time to upgrade it.
