2003 7.3 Tranny won't shift past 2nd gear
I have a 2003 7.3 Powerstroke with around 30,000 miles on it.
A few mods nothing major. 3 position chip Garrett Turbo Intake / Exhaust Anyway I am coming home the other day and my truck won't shift up out of 2nd gear. No codes (No check engine light anyway) no blinking O/D light or anything like that. I pull over check the fluid: Level is Perfect Looks and Smells Brand New So I turn the truck off and shut the chip off and start home, Same result the truck will not shift up past 2nd gear. I tried everything. I unhooked the batteries for like half an hour, thought maybe it could be somethign electrical. I did get the truck to shift into 3rd gear once but once it shifts it is like it goes into neutral (there is nothing there). I limped it home in 2nd gear (about 40mph) Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Has anyone else had this happen? What ended up being wrong? What did you do to fix it? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance |

I'm having the exact same issues right now and can't figure it out. I tore out my tranny and went all through it and everything was perfect. I put it back in and nothing changed.Did you ever get yours fixed, and if so, what was it? Hoping to get some advise here. It would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a shift solinoid issue. About the only way to diagnose it is to hookit up to a scanner and see if your getting a shift command and then check for any soft codes.

Yup... time to find a GOOD scanner.... the generic ones WILL NOT WORK on these PSD's.

Found a local guy that comes highly recomended and as to be expected he is a little backed up but he is supposed to start on it early next week so once I get it figured out I will post up the findings and the solution.

Take off ur pan and check the valve body and see if any of the solenoids are sticky. If they are free them up and try to drive
