New to the forum, and last post I mistakenly posted my tranny as a 4r100 - that's what the door post code points to - but I have a e4od.
Here's my problem. I haul campers and camp trailers and am under a load almost all the time. When I'm climbing a hill and I push the OD off button to shift down, it kicks all the way into 3rd, is there for a second or two, then goes into fourth. This happens with the button and if I kick it down with the foot feed. If I keep on the throttle, it will stay in 3rd gear and pull, but is close to redline at 55-60. With the way my truck is set up, I can pull any hill loaded in 4th gear, so what ends up happening is the tranny double shifts to 3rd, then slides back to fourth, and now my fluid is starting to smell a little burnt. I changed the filter recently, and no help. I know that a lot of people say that running loaded in OD hurts the tranny, but it has 190,000 on it, and is run loaded in od all the time. I just don't know what is causing the double shift from OD..... Anybody got a clue?
2001 F-350, E4OD, 7.3L, 4x4, 50 hp flash, 4" exhaust. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm on the road a lot, and will check back whenever I catch WIFI. Thanks!!!
