looking to purchase 2001 F250 w/2nd gear issues

Hi,

Looking at this 2001 F250 4x4 7.3 long bed with the 6 speed and it won't always go into 2nd gear. Sounds to me like a synchronizer problem. 171k on chassis. He wants $9300. He's been shifting form 1-3rd to avoid 2nd.

Question: should I avoid this one? Or yes, it's worth it even with the problem?
