Reverse problem on 03' 7.3 auto

My wife and just purchased our 2nd Superduty and the tranny sometimes don't want to go into reverse unless you go to drive first, then back to reverse and then its ok. The truck is a 03' 7.3L F250 CC 4x4. The company I work for we have about 30 7.3L and the fleet manager said the computer may need flashed. He said we had a truck that did the same thing and that was all they did to fix the problem. Has anyone had this problem or this fix?

I had the same problem on my '01. I just put up with it until the tranny died on my way home one night. In my case a shaft was binding and finally broke while going down the highway. I hope a flash takes care of your problem, but if it don't, start saving for a tranny.
