Won't shift into reverse or park
A few months back the truck stopped shifting into park. It felt like I ran out of room on the shifter before it would get to park and the drive indicator seems to be off. Just the other day it decided it didn't want to go into reverse either. I have not heard any weird noises or pops coming from the transmission. Could it just be the steering column?
Does anyone have any idea? Anyone had their column go out on them. BTW my truck is a 1996 F250 7.3L. Transmission was rebuilt around 199K so I wouldn't think that it is a trans problem. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you! |

Sounds like the shift linkage at the trans is out of adjustment. I would go back to the shop that rebuilt the trans. They will probably adjust it for free for you. I had the same problem my trans would not shift into park. I took it to the local trans shop. It took the guy 10 minutes to fix it. He said no charge. But I still dropped some money on his desk before I left.
Little things like that keep customers coming back. Show a little appreciation for there great customer service helps with repair bills too. |
