need trans help

Pulled away from a light in downtown Brighton,MI.around noon today. When trans shifted from 1st to 2nd. rpm's went up and it was only coasting from then on. Engine running rough. Rolled into a parking spot behind Bobs auto and tire. No forward,no reverse.Restarted, runs ok now, just doesn't move. No flashing overdrive lite.
Any Ideas on problem. Best trans shop in town?
'96 E40d trans, upgraded heavy duty converter,no shift kit but has valve body mods. Always shifted pretty firm. Am totally sick about it.

Did you figure out what was wrong... I'm having the exact same problem minus the running rough after the bang.
