New 7 pin connector and possible brake problem

I had to replace the 7 pin connector on my truck and after the install we checked the connector with a test tool to verify that everything was working. The light for the electric brakes was permanently lit and would not go out. Every other feature worked as it was supposed to but the brake indicator light on the tester stayed on all the time. I know when I turn the key on in the truck and step on the brake my drawtite brake controller will flash "OL" for a few seconds and then go back to normal. It has flashed like this since I put it in several years ago. I have towed many trips without any problems. I am leaving to camp next weekend and don't want to have any problems. Anyone know why the brake light would be on all the time? Possible problem with the wiring or possibly a shot brake controller or maybe the brake controller not wired properly? As I stated it has worked fine for over 2 years I don't know why I would have a problem now. Also I never used the tester with the original plug so I don't know if the electric brake light has been like that forever or not. Thanks.
